Have you ever been overwhelmed with the amount of work that needs to be done? And start thinking to yourself, “I don’t have enough people, hands, or time to get this finished?”
When leading a team, delegation is the key to not feeling overwhelmed. Learning to trust your team with responsibilities is important.
But, what if you don’t have enough people to delegate to?
I have experienced and learned how to handle this type of situation when I interned for Hillsong Church. This experience is normal and common when a company/team grows. So don’t be alarmed, when the workload surpasses the workers at hand, be encouraged because a time of growth is taking place.
Here are three things to do when you need more help!
1. Pray – Jesus said, “The harvest is great but the workers are few…”. So pray. Ask him to send more workers into HIS field. Ask God to help you get everything done.
2. Get Clarity – It’s good to determine the areas of work you are not able to focus on. Ask yourself, “What am I not getting to?” “What part of the week would I like to focus on more?” Asking these questions is helping you organize what’s really going on.
3. Make a plan – Think through what you do daily and weekly. Be sure to set healthy boundaries to consider your own wellness. Now what would you change? What would you start or stop investing your time into?
I hope these steps help you view your situation with fresh eyes. You are not alone and growth is taking place!
